May 2023

We’ve got some great things coming up this month for Hope Kids. Our first session after Messy church is going to be another exciting outdoor session with the Men’s team on the 14th… something that the Kids always enjoy! Then on the 21st we will be giving the Kids an opportunity to find out more about Prayer and Worship.

This month our little tots will be continuing looking for God in everything; God knows that I am growing (14th); God knows where I live (21st); and that God knows my name! (30th) First Sunday of May is Messy church and the last Sunday is May half term! How fast it all arrives! Sarah Barnett is doing a great job organising the Tots work, so if you want to join this fast growing team, come and catch her on Sunday.

We are waiting on a couple more backroom pieces of paperwork to be done before we start our older youth Connect group at the Hulmes’ house once a month on a Sunday evening. But when it’s done, it’s going to be great! Our usual format is to split the week into 4 Sundays. 1st Sunday of the month (7th) Prayer & Worship. 2SOTM (14th) GamesNight, In April we played traitors and their was plenty of backstabbing going on, can you believe it! That’s why our BAT series is… 3SOTM (21st) BAT series looking at Sportsmanship/Respect. 4SOTM (28th) is the start of the holidays so we won’t be on.

Summer Camps

It’s here! It’s this month! May’s MCYC Junior Week is upon us. Sam is speaking at the week and Jonny is the Worship leader, with Katie leading one of the kid’s groups too. It’s not too late to sign up for Juniors on the 27th May – 3rd June, and join the other 65 campers and group full of leaders.

Click this link to sign up, or come and speak to our ‘MCYC rep’ Youth Pastor Sam for more info. There are also weeks for Inters, Seniors, Young Adults and Leaders. From personal experience…it’s totally worth it! Don’t miss out!

Messy Church

We have finished our Hope Church Messy Church series following the ‘I AM sayings’ and it’s been a great few sessions that have hopefully increased the Kids knowledge of what Jesus taught about who he ACTUALLY was. Messy church is the 1st Sunday of every month, with this month it coming just as we are about to celebrate the coronation of a new King…how fitting. So this month’s Messy church (7th) will be a Coronation Party Special. How exciting! Bank holiday is the next day and I’m sure you’ve all got special plans for that day, so we thought we’d prepare the Kids for whats to come (there’s only one true KING btw).

Lighthouse

Our Thursday after school Primary school club ‘Lighthouse’ will be help in the main hall (Room 1) on the 4th, with the elections going on in Room 2. The club is open to all family and friends who are in Primary school. Subs are £1, which all goes back into sweets and the hot meal! During the Games night, we have free play, structured play, songs and a story. The story series is ‘Stories of the Bible’ and we are watching stories from the New Testament starting with everyones favourite character…JESUS!

In the mornings our Youth our continuing with an 8 week topic called ’40Acts’ with the focus being on ‘who is the wisest of them all?’ The youth will be looking at how they can personally draw close to God and how they can unlock their serving potential. Our coronation special Messy church on the 7th is optional, as always, for the youth, giving them an opportunity to stay in the main service if they so wish.

Our Thursday morning Toddler group ‘Roundabout’ has started off well for the new term, seeing 8 new families join since April. Roundabout will still go ahead on the 4th despite elections taking place at the same time in Room 2. Since September we have seen 87 Toddlers come along with their parents and carers. It is a great outreach for our local community, and our volunteers do an incredible job developing relationships with so many of the families coming through the doors.
